Blood, Sweat, and Tears
What a Weekend for Atom White!!!

Each and every player brought everything they had to the ice.  Every game was a nail biter.  Those kids played with heart and generated such excitement for the coaching staff and the fans.

Saturday was a busy day for the Atom White Stars.  It started off early with an 8:15  round robin game three vs the Percy Bulldogs at the Kinsmen.

Although the Stars fought hard, this game was the first tournament loss for the stars with a 3 to 2 final score for the Bulldogs.  This put the Stars in second place in their grouping and in line for the Consolation Finals.

Coaching Staff was very proud and slightly relieved as although we would have liked our Stars to play for the Championship Finals this would have pitted them head to head with our Atom Green buddies in the quarter finals.

Game highlights from this game include 2 goals scored by, Mitchell Kay.  With Assists going to Zenan Pearce, Kyle Cahill, and Jayden Metcalf.

The quarter final game was played at 12:15 at the Evinrude against the PHA Ice.  Our Atom Green friends and family joined us in the stands showing their support.

Atom White was wearing their favourite Green jerseys and their spirits were high.  This game was tight and thrilling to watch.  Final score 3 to 2 for our Stars.  It is note worthy that all goals were scored in the first period of this game.

Amazing defensive action was seen in this game lead by Lauren Dunlop, Landon Kirkwood, Makayla Nichols, and Teddy Bobee.

Goals in this game were scored by, Zenan Pearce, Tristan Lehmann, and Declan Hunter.

Game assists go to, Tristan Lehmann, Mitchell Kay, Liam Cahill, and Declan Hunter.

The first two games of the day also demonstrated excellent goal tending by Hunter Hargreaves during his time in net. Hunter stopped all shots sent his way in both games earning himself a shut out for his turn between the pipes.

The win against the Ice qualified the Stars for the Semi - Final game against the PHA Giants at 4:30 at the Evinrude.  Once again we had the support of Atom Green as they were also headed to Semi - Finals and were playing back to back with Atom White.

The first period had the Giants dominating our very tired Stars.  The giants were leading 1 - 0.  The fans were trying to rally and pump up the skaters.

The end of the second period brought much excitement as Makayla Nichols, a defensive player, drove the puck from one end to the other and fired it past the goalie unassisted for the Stars first goal of the game.  The score was tied and the fans were wild.

The third period was a nail biter.  Halfway into the 3rd another defensive goal was scored by Teddy Bobee, assisted by Landon Kirkwood, and Tyler Dunlop.  The Stars were leading 2 - 1.

Tables turned and the Giants tied the game.  With less than five minutes remaining in the third period, emotions were high in the crowd.  Both teams fought hard and for the fans, it was like watching a torturous game of ping pong.

At the 2 1/2 minute mark, the Giants scored.  Shortly after that, the Stars pulled the goalie to put an extra skater on the ice.  Unfortunately a tie could not be found.  The game finished with a 3 - 2 final score for the Giants.

Despite the loss, the Stars played a phenomenal 5 games in 3 days.  They worked together and rallied and demonstrated the depths of their abilities as a team.  That's a WIN for sure.  Congratulations Stars.  You are champions to us.

Atom White is looking forward to starting the next part of their Season.  Come out and support your Stars.  Next game Thursday, January 14.
