Peewee's Start Season With Win
A good crowd was on hand Saturday evening in Millbrook to see the Peewee Rep team start the season with a win over Manvers. For a team that has a mixture of returning players and players new to rep hockey this was a good way for them to kickoff the season.
The game started well for the local team when they quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead courtesy of Aaron Morton. Buoyed by this the team continued to apply the pressure throughout the 1st period resulting in further goals to Drew McFadden and Ben Gillis. The game lost some shape in the second period as both teams found themselves with players in the penalty box. On one of the power plays Aaron found Mitchel Booth wide open on the point for Mitchel to power home a slap shot and a 4-0 lead. A flood at the end of the 2nd allowed both teams to focus on coming out to play hockey in the 3rd period. Late in the period Ben was able to score his second before completing his hat trick with 2 minutes to play. Manvers continued to try hard and were rewarded with a consolation goal at the end to leave the final score 6-1.
The team now heads on the road for a couple of games looking to build on this result. The team appreciated the support on Saturday and hopes everyone comes to support them at their next home game in Millbrook on October 22nd.
