Midget Rep 1st Tournament
For the 1st time in a number of years MDMHA is hosting a Midget Rep team. With a small roster of 12 skaters and 1 goalie no one knew what to expect from this small but determined squad. Their 1st game vs Mariposa resulted in a 2-2 tie that I think surprised everyone a little, but showed the boys that they were capable of competing at the Rep level. They have had a few rough losses since then, but all games were within reach and the Stars know they have it in them to compete with and win against all the teams in the Victoria Durham loop in which they play. This past weekend they competed in their 1st tournament of the season. It was a last minute offering and unfortunately not all the team was able to make it to Minden for the Cody Hodgson Fall Classic.

During the round robin the team knew they would have a short bench, with just 7 skaters for the 1st 2 games and 10 for the 3rd. Game one vs Frontenac Flyers was an excellent effort from this small squad and it resulted in their 1st win of the season and a 2-0 shutout for goalie Ethan Buck. In game two you could tell that our lack of skaters was tiring the boys out, but still a respectable showing with a 5-2 loss against a strong Ennismore Eagles team with a full roster. Game three vs Essa had a delayed start and the boys were anxious to play with the few extra skaters who were able to make the 3rd game. Another excellent game by Millbrook resulted in a 2-1 win and the boys were off to the semi-finals on Sunday morning to face the home team Highland Storm. The boys knew they would have a tough game and would only have 7 skaters for the game, so they would have to work hard, pass the puck and stay out of the penalty box. They had a great 1st period allowing just one goal, another great 2nd period and the score was 2-0 Storm going into the 3rd period. The boys worked so hard all game, but exhaustion and a bit of frustration set in during the 3rd period and the home team sealed our fate. Making all 4 games were Ethan Buck, Carson Booth, Fergus Winn, Alex Proulx, Kolby Scott, Sebastian Hamel and Aaron Bradshaw. Making 3 was Quinn Clancey and making 1 were Dawson McFadden, Eric Pilgrim, Joe Seguin, and Trenton Preston. Coach Roland Greber would like to thank all players who were able to make games in this last minute entry and bench staff Cyril Winn,Don Seguin and Mark Proulx for making the drive to Minden. Congratulations to the Midget Rep team on a very successful 1st tournament of the season.
