Hello Millbrook
Stars,
We are working
hard preparing to get back to the game we all miss and love. Currently we are
working with the OMHA, Peterborough Health Unit and our Municipality to make
sure our return to hockey plan is safe for everyone involved. The safety of our membership is our priority.
Sad to say that due to the current state
of the Covid-19 Pandemic our pre-season hockey school and skills night has been
cancelled for the 2020-2021 hockey season.
We will not be hosting any representative hockey teams or try outs.
There are multiple stages in the OHF documentation (Click here to view OHF Stages of Hockey). As of September 1st, we have entered Phase 2 Stage 3B. Stage 3B - Return to Practice, Play and Registration this is what this stage looks like. Players must be registered for the 2020-21 season in order to be eligible and covered by Hockey Canada insurance. Players may participate with their Home Association or the Association with which they were registered for the 2019-20 season. Player’s registering for the very first time or a new resident to Cavan Monaghan Township will register with the Association identified as their residential (home) Association.
We are planning to have players on the ice for development in early October. The teams will consist of 9 skaters and a goalie. There will be no friend requests or special requests this season to be on certain teams. Once teams are made they are final. There will not be any game play until we reach Phase 2 Stage 3C. We are currently working closely with other organizations within our PHU to play games if/when we reach this stage.

These are very challenging times for everyone. We ask for your patience and co-operation during this. We are working very hard to make sure that everyone is safe so we can get back to Canada’s sport of hockey.

FAQ
Can I play in another association this season?
Players can register with their home centre or in the centre they were registered with in the 2019-20 season. Those are the only two options for the 2020-21 season.
What will seasonal structure be for the 2020-2021 season?
During Stage 3B, players will be grouped to a maximum of 50 or less depending on the Public Health Unit (PHU). The OHF will review the allowable maximum upon amendment by the Ontario Government. The number of 50 refers to players only. Bench Staff are not included in this cohort/bubble.
What will rosters look like?
Teams will be rostered to a maximum of 9 players + 1 goalie during Stage 3B.
Coaches will only be allowed to be in 1 bubble – This means a coach can only be with one team and not help out with multiple teams.
All OMHA Pathways apply (U11, U9, U7) and we will be following this directive.
Do we have to complete a health screen before we come to the rink?
Yes, all parents, players, coaches and bench staff will be required to complete a heath screen prior to participating in any hockey related activities each and every time you participate.
What about Tryouts? Will there be Representative hockey this year?
During Stage 3B, there will no traditional representative hockey leagues and no tryouts.
How will teams be formed if there is no evaluation or tryout?
Players will be placed on a team with players of similar skill and ability. This will be determined by what level they played in the 2019-2020 season and team selection will be made by the board of directors before the start of the season. Once teams have been made, no movement will be allowed.
Player Movement
Players that played AAA, AA or A last year and NRP players can stay where they were rostered in 2019-20 season, or return to their home association Players who moved on Reg 3.5 last year can stay where they were rostered in 2019-20 season or return to their home association. This would NOT count as two seasons defined in Policy 4.1b.
Where can I see the full guidelines for returning to Hockey?
You can view the full OHF Return to Hockey Framework – Covid-19 Response by Clicking HERE
Will there be refunds of registration fees if Hockey is Cancelled?
If hockey is cancelled by the government then a prorated refund would be possible.
How many hours of ice will teams get and will the cost still be the same?
We are trying our best to have the kids on the ice twice a week like in past years. Costs will remain as posted on our website.
Thank you,
