Petition to Amend the Bylaws of the Millbrook and District Minor Hockey
Association (MDMHA)
Date: May 01, 2025
To the Members and Board of Directors of the Millbrook and District Minor Hockey
Association:
We, the undersigned members in good standing of the Millbrook and District Minor
Hockey Association (MDMHA), hereby submit this petition to propose the following
amendments to the Association's bylaws, as currently posted on
www.millbrookhockey.com:
Proposed Bylaw Amendments:
1. Update and Rename the Role of Director B:
- The role of Director B shall be renamed to Teams Treasurer.
- This position shall be responsible for Team Treasurer follow-up and oversight, acting
as a supporting resource to the current Treasurer.
- This change promotes financial consistency and improved communication across all
team levels.
2. Amendment to the Head Trainer Role:
- The Head Trainer position shall be made a voting member of the Board.
- Requirements for holding this position shall include:
a. Valid certification in First Aid and CPR
b. Completion of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) required training for
both the Trainer and Head Trainer roles
- These qualifications will ensure that the Head Trainer brings a standardized level of
expertise and commitment to player safety.
3. Addition of a Local League Official Role and Renaming of Current Role:
- A new position titled Local League Official shall be added to the Board structure.
- The existing role of Team Official shall be renamed to Representative Hockey
Official.
- These changes provide a clear and separate governance structure for Local League
and Representative Hockey programs, promoting more focused and effective support for
each.
Rationale:
- These proposed amendments will enhance board structure and role clarity, ensure
stronger oversight of team finances, improve safety oversight, and clearly differentiate
governance between Representative and Local League hockey programs.
- Empowering the Head Trainer as a voting board member reinforces the priority of
health and safety in minor hockey.
- The creation of the Local League Official role ensures balanced representation and
leadership across all levels of play.
We respectfully request that these proposed amendments be reviewed and presented at
the next Annual General Meeting (AGM) or Special Meeting in accordance with the
amendment process outlined in the current MDMHA bylaws.
