Start of Season Process 2023/2024

The Millbrook Stars will take to the ice for the start of the 2023/2024 season soon.....with Hockey School starting on September 6th and the first pre-season skates starting September 7th.

For clarity, the month of September is Pre-Season.  The actual hockey season will start for Representative Hockey just after Thanksgiving, and for Local League usually a few weeks later in October.

Tryouts for representative hockey will take place starting around September 20th and prior to tryouts happening we are required to have players participate in some skates.  Until these tryouts are finished, teams for Local League play will not be set.  We also have to wait for our Three County League to confirm whether teams in each division will need to be set up as "balanced" (meaning a blend of talent levels) or Tiered (teams are set up with the strongest LL players on a team for a division, and a division of players still developing...this allows for all players to enjoy success on ice regardless of level of play...both work well depending on the number of players across the league in each division)

Once teams are set, families should receive communication from the coach of their team, but do not expect this until late September or early October.

The skates in September are set up by age division and last name....not by team.  They will be facilitated by our many volunteer coaches with valid credentials and up to date vulnerable sector checks....but your STAR may not be on the ice with their eventual coach...during the pre-season skates.  Returning players I am sure will however recognise many of the on ice volunteers during this return to hockey stage.

As always, your board is here to answer any questions you may have.
