Bench Staff Qualifications (Millbrook Minor Hockey)

PrintBench Staff Qualifications
TEAM OFFICIAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
It's never too early to get ready for next season!   To be rostered to a team or to a bench, you must have proper qualifications and take mandatory courses per OMHA Regulations.

If bench staff do not have all qualifications completed by the time the rosters are to be submitted to OMHA, you will not be able to be rostered on a team, and may make your team ineligible to be rostered causing a delay in the season for your young Stars.

Qualifications to be rostered as a Coach or Trainer are found here: Team Official Qualification Requirements 2023-24
To be rostered to a team and be on the bench (or participate as an on-ice volunteer), the following is also required:

Online Bench Staff Registration
Respect in Sport - Activity Leader
Gender Identity and Expression Course
Police Vulnerable Sector Check

COACHING CLINICS
Coaching Clinic listings are found here.

TRAINER COURSE
The HTCP Trainer course is found here.  Note that trainer qualifications expire after three (3) seasons, and a refresher course must be taken.

TEAM MANAGERS
Team Managers do not need to be rostered, but if you want to go on the bench you need the same qualifications as On-Ice Volunteers.

POLICE VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK
MDMHA requires a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) be filed when someone volunteers for the first time and every other season thereafter.  There is a Volunteer Letter available from MDMHA that the applicant can file with their VSC application.  The letter will allow the police service to charge the volunteer processing rate and waive the extra fee should you need to be fingerprinted because your date of birth matches someone in the RCMP database.  The completed Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) must be submitted to [email protected].

IMPORTANT
You may not go on the bench or sign a game sheet until you're approved by OMHA and rostered.

MDMHA does not require a copy of your certificates as they will be linked to your HCR profile. If they're not linked, you are required to reach out to OMHA or the other course admin staff for assistance as MDMHA has no way to assist with the linking of courses to your HCR profile.
