U7
Q: What do I need to know about U7 games?
A: Details of U7 games are as follows:
- U7 games are 4 on 4 (plus a goalie), half-ice, and consist of two, 22-minute periods
- The buzzer is sounded every 2 minutes, upon which all 4 players on the ice return to the bench for a shift change.
- No score is kept during U7 games and there are no whistles during play
- U7 games may use small, medium, or regular-sized nets. Both small and large nets are available at the CMCC.
- No referees are used for U7 games. Rather, one coach, or one coach from each team, should be on the ice to facilitate the play.
Q: Who sets up the half-ice boards?
A: Volunteers from the home team are responsible for setting up the half-ice boards before their game. Anyone helping on-ice needs to be wearing skates and a helmet; this is for insurance reasons.
Q: Do we need to remove the half-ice boards when the zamboni is on the ice?
A: Yes, all of half-ice boards need to be removed from the ice while the zamboni is flooding.
Q: Who removes the half-ice boards after the game is over?
A: Volunteers from the home team are responsible for removing the half-ice boards following their game.
Q: Do I need to use the iPad/GameSheet for U7 games?
A: Yes, all bench staff need to sign the iPad and the coach or manager should verify all the players present. Each team needs, as a minimum, a coach and a trainer on the bench for each game.
Q: Since there is no referee, who signs the iPad for the referee after the game is over?
A: The referee name should be entered as 'U7 No Referee', and then you can sign the referee signature field as 'No Ref'. Once this is done, you will be able to lock and upload the GameSheet. All GameSheets need to be locked and uploaded following completion of the game.
