 Slo Pitch Tournament Rules  

 

 

  1. TEAM COMPOSITION

 

1. The team composition will consist of 10 players on the field, with the tenth

individual being a second short stop or rover.

 

2. Teams must have a minimum of 3 females, playing at all times.

 

3. A team must have a minimum of nine players to start and finish the game.

 

4. The tournament is open to all ages but it is recommended that players be at least 13 years of age and experienced, as there will be adults playing.

 

B. SUBSTITUTIONS

 

1. Substitutions can be made at anytime provided the player entering the

game will continue to play a complete inning (both offense and defence)

and provided the minimum number of females is still met.

 

2. The individual substituting into the game must then bat in the order of the

person they are replacing.

 

3. A substitute runner may replace the batter after the batter has made

the initial run to first base or beyond, or make the initial run provided they start from the 3rd base side of home plate. Once the play has been stopped, the

substitute replaces the batter before the next pitch is delivered.

 

4. Positions on field may be changed at random; however, the batting order

must remain the same.

 

C. RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

  1. 1. Games will be seven innings, or no new inning after 1 hour in length, whichever comes first.

 

2. A correct batting order must be kept. With no more than 3 males in a row.

 

3. No bunting is allowed. (Automatic out)

 

4. Unsportsmanlike conduct including foul language, umpire abuse, illegal

physical contact is prohibited, and can result in ejection from the tournament.

 

5. Coin toss will determine the home team.

 

6. Pitching and Regulation: Slow pitch rules will apply. The ball

must be delivered at a moderate speed in an underhand fashion (below

the hip) and with a minimum 6 foot arch, The strike zone will consist of a rubber mat placed around home plate as well as the plate itself.

 

7. No sliding under any circumstances. (will result in an out)

 

8. Foul balls or foul tips count as a strike (3rd strike foul is an out). Caught foul balls are out at any time. The ball must be over 6 feet, as long as it doesn’t hit the backstop.

 

9. Only one base may be taken on an over-thrown ball that goes out of

play or out of the field boundaries, which are to be decided at the start

of each game.

 

10. Under no condition is a runner permitted to steal a base, and may lead

off base only after the pitched ball is struck.

 

11. Cleats are allowed - but no metals spikes.

 

12. The batting order must be indicated on the official score sheet at the

start of the game and may change only in the event of a substitution.

 

13. The choice of first or last bat will be determined by the home team.

 

14. The bases will be set at a distance of 60 feet apart.

 

15. A team cannot score more than five runs per inning, except in the final

inning.

 

16. When running to home plate the players is not allowed to touch home

plate or they will be automatically out.

 

17. A commitment line will be drawn prior to the start of the game. Runners who cross the line must continue to home.

 

D. TIE BREAKER REGULATIONS

 

1. In the event of a tie at the end of regulation time, the following tie

breaker rules will be applied in sequential order until the tie is broken.

These rules must be explained to the team captains and agreed upon

prior to the start of the game.

 

A. At the end of regulation time (one hour or seven completed

innings) if the score is tied, then a tie breaker inning will be played

to determine a winner, provided the full inning is completed

within a fifteen minute time period as determined by the

convenor.

 

B. Should the score still not be broken or the inning not be

completed within the additional fifteen minutes, then the game

will go back one inning at a time until the last completed is

reached where the score is broken.

 

C. If the score has been tied all the way back to the first inning, then

the best two of three coin tosses will determine the winner.

 

2. The on-site convenor in conjunction with any official will have the final

decision. Once these procedures are agreed to at the start of the

game, then will not be changed.

 

3. If at the decision of the on-site convenor, the time remaining is less than

fifteen minutes and that any extension will alter the remaining

tournament schedule, then the amount of time remaining to play the

extra inning must be altered, according to time remaining before the

start of the next scheduled game.
