Stars win game 1 at Golden Puck
Millbrook Stars Novice LL team took to the ice at the Teeder Kennedy Arena at 11:00 AM today for their first game in the 52nd Annual Golden Puck Tournament in Port Colborne, Ontario.
Facing off against the Ayr Flames, the teams battled through a back and forth first period in which neither team scored.
The Stars picked up their pace in the second, with O. Hunter scoring our first goal of the tournament on an outstanding set up from G. Jones.
The Flames fought back and tallied their own marker to tie the game at ones.
Then the Stars burst out...with C. Stephenson scoring twice on break-a-ways, B. Borden scoring a goal with a assisted by T. Lehmann to finish the second period with a 4-1 lead.
The third period was mostly controlled by the Stars, with further goals added by M. Robbins with a great individual effort and a final tally by M. Berardi, with G. Jones getting another assist in what was a nice set up.
The Stars take to the ice again tomorrow morning for their second game in what is shaping up to be an exciting weekend !!
